The city of Bexley is located in Franklin County and has more than fourteen thousand residents. This suburban city was initially founded as a village and is an old, tree-lined suburb of Columbus. The community is known for its large estates and houses.. The most famous of its homes is the Jeffrey Park Mansion which is home to the president of Ohio State University. The Ohio Governor's Mansion is located in the northern part of Bexley and was originally built as a private residence.

Bexley was named at the suggestion of an early settler, Col. Lincoln Kilbourne, in honor of his family's roots in Bexley, in London, England. The residents north of Main Street and Pleasant Ridge, Bullitt Park, and south of Main Street decided to merge their neighborhoods and form the city of Bexley. The town officially became a city when William A. Schneider was elected the first mayor of the City of Bexley, and he constructed the first city hall. This pioneer led the city through a profitable and long growth period and remained in office until he retired. The town was accredited as an arboretum by the Morton Register of Arboreta, making it the first city in the United States to successfully obtain arboretum accreditation.

There are many landmarks and notable locations within the community. A favorite eatery is Rubino's Pizzeria which has barely changed since it first opened in the 1950s. The Drexel Theatre which is notable for its 1930's appearance has been a mainstay in the city. There are also many historic sites and buildings and outdoor sculpture for residents and visitors alike to explore.
